CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT

Health Questionnaire
This is the first step to determining the source of your condition. It includes questions regarding your primary problem(s) and any other symptoms or conditions you have had or currently have.

The Chiropractic Examination
The Chiropractic Examination is designed to determine the location of the spinal nerve stress that could be responsible for your symptoms or poor health. The examination usually begins at the primary area of pain first. Included in the examination may be movement tests, standard orthopedic tests to determine the source of the pain, and to what extent the nerves may be involved. Your spine will also be evaluated for spinal subluxations and imbalances. Occasionally other areas, such as the feet for example, may be contributing to your problem. These areas will also be evaluated because chiropractors look to remove the source of the problem and not just mask the symptoms. Additional tests such as X-rays, MRI, CT, nerve conduction tests or blood tests may be ordered if necessary after the examination.

Chiropractic treatment
After the spinal analysis and associated testing has determined what is causing your spinal nerve stress, the doctor will determine which type of treatment and adjustment “techniques” are best in your case. Techniques are methods to restore alignment and proper joint function. Patients may be given a choice of techniques that would be appropriate for their condition. Techniques such as Activator uses a tiny instrument to impulse the vertebrae. Some techniques such as Cox spinal distraction and others require a special chiropractic adjusting table. Many techniques simply use the hands of the chiropractor to gently impulse the subluxated vertebrae. Along with the spinal adjustments, therapies such as heat, ice, ultrasound, muscle stimulation and others may be used to reduce pain, inflammation and reduce healing time.

Hippocrates, called the “Father of Western Medicine,” was really a natural healer, stressing diet, exercise, natural remedies, and spinal adjustments as a means of curing diseases and maintaining health. As he said: “One or more vertebrae of the spine may…go out of place…they are likely to produce serious complications and even death, if not properly adjusted.”
